Prairie Creek Greenway
Managed by Platte County Parks & RecreationScenery and wildlife are abundant on the Prairie Creek Greenway, located just south of Platte City. The picturesque four-mile trail was built through partnerships with local developers through the donation of land and construction services.
Officially opened on National Trails Day (June 3) 2006, the greenway is popular for both biking and walking.The trail has two main trailheads, one in the Timber Park subdivision and one located just off of N Highway.
Pedestrian access is available from several subdivisions along the trail. The future phases of the trail plan include a 7.8 mile enclosed loop. The trail is open daily from dawn to dusk.
🚧 Prairie Creek Greenway Trail Maintenance Project Update 🚧
Phase I of the Prairie Creek Greenway Trail Maintenance Project will begin Tuesday, May 26.
Please expect temporary trail closures while each phase of the project is underway. If a section of the trail is closed, please use another section of the trail system during construction.
🚜 Heavy equipment will be present on the trail as crews repave asphalt sections and repair bridge approaches.
⏳ Each phase is expected to take approximately 2 weeks, with the total project anticipated to last around 2 months.
