On Sunday, September 24th artists will be visiting the Day Log House at the Green Hills of Platte Wildlife Preserve (4727 Green Hills Rd, Parkville, MO 64152). As part of the 6th Annual Paint Parkville event hosted by the Cathy Kline Art Gallery (https://cathyklineartgallery.com/). Paint Parkville is a Plein Air art event where all artists paint outside on location. Come see the artists in action and view the exterior of the historic Day Log House. Between 5:30-6pm one of the artworks will be selected and purchased by the Friends of Platte County Parks.
The Day Log House was formerly owned by Dorothy Day. Dorothy was a commercial artist for TWA and a freelance illustrator for many years. The Log House is thought to be constructed between 1850-1860 and has been restored by Platte County. The home was purchased in 1912 by Dorothy Day’s grandparents, George and Emma Day and remained in the family until the County purchased it in 2002.
There are no restroom facilities on site, so please plan accordingly. Light refreshments will be served.
