Kayaking for Beginners

Experience kayaking first hand at the FREE Kayak event July 11, 2020, starting at 9 am! Boats and gear will be supplied; bring your own boat if you have one. Instruction will be given on paddle movement and motion, boat basics and safety. Participants will experience kayaking during a paddle on the water.

This event is open to people of all ages; children under 8 years old must supply their own life preserver if participating. Participants are encouraged to wear sunscreen and water friendly clothing.

There will be a maximum of 60 reservations this year. 15 people each session, with 3 time slots offered, starting at 9am, 10am, and 11am. We ask that you remain in your vehicles until the group ahead of you has exited the water and is clear of the access ramp. Each session will last 45 minutes on the water, with a maximum of 15 kayaks per session. Large groups are discouraged this year, please call 816-858-3419 to make arrangements for a private session for your group. Please practice social distancing while on shore.
All water enthusiasts, regardless of kayaking experience, are welcome. People with their own boats are more than welcome also. PFD's are required. Don't forget your paddle.
