Float on the Platte River

Float on the Platte River-2023 Dates to be determined by water level

NOTE: 2022 was a severe drought year and we were not able to paddle the Platte River due to extremely low water levels. If you have your own kayak and would like to paddle this river on your own, please wear your life jacket and check water levels before launching.

Join Platte County Parks for a FLOAT ON THE PLATTE RIVER float. WE WILL ANNOUNCE 2023 FLOATS BY PLATTE COUNTY PARKS FACEBOOK AND WEBSITE

Two Common routes: The Duck's Head: Platte Falls Conservation Area. This is a unique 2.5 mile float features the launch and take out access points in the same parking lot! No Shuttles! This usually takes about 1 hour.

Sharp Station to the Duck's Head This 7.75 mile float will begin at Sharp Station and finish at the boat ramp on the Duck’s Head at Platte Falls Conservation Area outside Platte City, MO. We will begin the float trip at 9 a.m. and be back to The Duck’s Head by 12 p.m. This event is a “bring your own” event.

  • Bring your own boat
  • Don't forget your paddle, water and life preserver.
  • Kayaks, Canoes, or SUPs welcome!
  • Distance is 7.75 miles and takes about 2-3 hours.

We will be providing shuttle buses from Duck's Head Parking lot to Sharp Station.

Bus will leave promptly from Duck's Head at 8:30AM. If you need to shuttle your vehicle. Carpool with your group.
1. Take and drop your people, boats and equipment to Sharp's Station.
2. One person drive the vehicle to Duck's Head.
3. Get on the bus by 8:30 AM PROMPT!!
4. Bus will take you to the Start of the float at Sharp Station
5. Float to your car!
6. Have fun and be safe.

Please wear water friendly clothes and shoes. Bring snacks and water.
This trip is for 14 years and older! Must wear life jackets the entire time while on the Platte River.

 

 

 

Duck’s Head Directions (Platte Falls Conservation Area):
Exit 19 off I-29, Turn East on HH Hwy, Turn North on Knighton Avenue in front of Wearhouse and More and Platte County Readi Mix, Keep following gravel road all the way back to the Duck’s Head Parking Lot (Platte Falls Conservation area).

Rental INFO: $10 per kayak. (Regular cost is $30)
Must be 14 years or older. Limited quantities. First Come First Serve.
