We are excited to announce that registration for the 2017 Tour de Platte is now open. The Tour de Platte is a free bicycle ride designed for bikers of all levels to cycle through the trails, parks, and back roads of Platte County. The Tour will begin at 8:00 am at E.H. Young Park in Riverside, MO. (1001 Argosy Pkwy, Riverside, MO 64150).
T-Shirts from the ride can be purchased for $5.00 each up until May 10th.
This year the Tour de Platte will offer 3 different routes. Please see below for route details.
Full Route- 34 Miles
This route is designed for the experienced cyclist. The route will begin at E.H. Young Park and head towards Parkville. The route makes a large circle throughout Southern Platte County traveling as far north as KCI airport. The route ends up on the beautiful Line Creek Trail which brings you back to Riverside. Four break stations with snacks and drinks will be provided on this route. This route is recommended for experienced cyclists only who will be using road or hybrid style bikes.
Intermediate Route – 18 Miles
Returning this year to the Tour is the intermediate route. The intermediate route will begin at E.H. Young and head to the Line Creek Trail. This round trip route ends at the Challenger Park off the new section of the 152 trail and turns around to head back to Riverside. A break station will be provided at the five mile mark which can be utilized on the way out and heading back in. Drinks and snacks will be provided at this break station.
Short Route – 10 Miles
This route is designed for beginners and families participating in the Tour. This route will begin at 8:00 from E.H. Young and head to the Line Creek Trail. Similar to the intermediate route, this round trip ride will utilize the Line Creek Trail. Riders will ride to the five mile mark at the Line Creek Trailhead at 64th and Gower and then turn around to return to Riverside. A break station will be provided at the five mile mark which can be utilized by short route riders. Drinks and snacks will be provided at this break station.
