“Very good walking trails – congratulations and good job! I would love to see the YMCA in Platte City enlarged especially the pool and the track.” “I am a swimming coach at Platte City. It would be nice to have a indoor facility to be used by kids and adults. Young people in Platte City enjoy swimming. There are 15 members of the boys’ high school team and over 30 for the girls.” “I have been impressed with the quality of facilities and process.” “The YMCA is amazing. Child Watch is great. The pool is very small but very nice. There is no pool in Platte City for all these school kids. Swimming is a wonderful sport that breeds smart, focused kids.” “Connect existing trails and paths. “My impression is high. The Parks & Rec facilities available for kids and family are excellent. Keep up the good work. “The YMCA is costly and wasn’t built large enough to use in the busier times. I want a swimming pool with lap lanes and there are just two. The demand is high for youth and adult leagues and with the high school successfully starting a tennis program this year, it seems like a great time to build courts.” “It seems sports fields and community centers have gotten the most attention. Walking, biking and mountain bike trails have not.” “Continue to maintain existing facilities at a high level. Promote new facilities to expand recreation options for families. Require developer to have backyard access to area for play. Mark trees for educational benefit along trails.” “We do not need more new housing divisions and townhomes. Just keep up the good work and listen to the people using them and all will be fine.” “I would like to see the PC Parks consider making Platte Ridge Park a PERMANENT home for Platte County Youth Football. This is a very fast growing program and we need a facility we can depend on.” “I think Platte Co. needs to remember green space and curb urban growth as that GREEN is what attracted many people to the Northland!” “Would like to see more space devoted to equestrian activities. There are a lot of clubs out there that would volunteer to keep up trails so there would be a place to ride. Have heard "talk" of a "bridle path"/equestrail trails to be put in near Tiffany Springs and think that would be an excellent place and it has plenty of space to explore.” “Our family enjoys Platte Ridge playground and picnic area. Usually quiet and peaceful. Prarie Creek Greenway Nice place to ride bikes.” “Full-size 50 meter indoor swimming pool. The Northland Swim Conference is among the city's best kept secrets, but the number of children involved in swimming at all levels is amazing. The need for an new, state of the art indoor swimming facility is vast. There are several swim clubs throughout the Northland. Year-round swimming has become very popular in Platte County, and the number of recreational swim clubs is growing. Facilities have definitely NOT kept up with demand.” |
