Platte County and the YMCA invested in a healthy relationship by partnering together in 2002 to build two community centers in the county. The Platte County Community Center South located in Parkville is currently the number one center is the Kansas City metro area serving over 10,000 individuals. A membership at the center includes access
to all Kansas City metro YMCAs. |

The center features a wellness center, a full indoor gym, a 1/8 mile suspended walking track, an indoor aquatics center featuring 3 lap lanes, a lazy river, a vortex, dry sauna, steam room, kids adventure center, indoor & outdoor playground areas, a generational center, party room and locker rooms. Platte County Community Center South also has several community events including a summer Block Party, Boo Bash and Kids’ Night out.

Through the partnership with the YMCA, the facility offers an income-based fee scale called PERSONAL PRICING. This program takes household income into account to determine the membership rate and helps keep the center affordable to all residents. Scholarships also available for those who qualify.
The center is open seven days a week.
